Dating Methodology in the Creation of this Timeline Chart
The purpose of this chart is not to fill it up with as much data as possible. Rather, it is to present a clear but concise and direct Biblical Timeline - God's Timeline - from Creation all the way through to the present era, and then beyond. There is so much dating / timing information given in the Bible that the chart could contain many times its current number of entries. That would have been a distraction from our purpose.
Note that because the Hebrew year spans across parts of two Gregorian years, and because of the ante-dating method often used by the Hebrews to calculate time intervals; a one year discrepancy can be seen in the numbers from time to time. No adjustment was made to account for this in any way. The numbers you see here are strictly the numbers that are derived from the available information which is then subjected to simple adding or subtracting.
Entries with a leading [Note] have an explanatory note below. Click on it to read the note.
NOTES
11. - Note: - Genesis 5:32: Now after Noah was five hundred years old, Noah fathered Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
In Hebrew writing, sons were not necessarily listed in chronological order. Examples:
- We know that Ham was the youngest, the third-born of Noah's three sons (Gen 9:18-27) but is never listed third.
- Noah's sons are listed as Shem, Ham, and Japheth in Genesis 5:32; and as Japheth, Ham, and Shem in Genesis 10.
- Arpachshad was Shem's first son and carried the lineage from Shem (see entries 13 & 14), but he was listed 3rd in Genesis 10.
In Hebrew culture, family lineage was not always carried through the firstborn son. Example:
- Isaac's lineage is carried through his son Jacob even though his son Esau was the firstborn. (Gen 25:26; Matt 1:2; Acts 7:8)
- Jacob (Israel) blessed the youngest of Joseph's sons above the eldest. (Gen 48) He did similarly with his own sons. (Gen 49)
Noah's three sons were not triplets:
- Noah's age was 500 when his first son was born. (Gen 5:32)
- Noah entered the ark at age 600 (Gen 7:6-7) which means his first son was 100 years old when he entered the ark.
- Shem had his first son, Arpachshad, at the age of 100, two years after the flood. (Gen 11:10)
- Therefore we now know that Shem was Noah's second-born son and Japheth was the first-born.*
- Therefore, Noah had lived 502 years when he fathered Shem.
_____
* Who was Noah's eldest son? Understanding Genesis 10:21.
- Shem is "brother of Japheth the elder" - KJV AKJV NKJV; "younger brother of Japheth" - AMPC; "whose older brother was Japheth" - NIV
- "Shem ... the older brother of Japheth." - NASB - See NASB 1995 footnote "j" which states: "Or the brother of Japheth the elder"
- A fuller explanation of why Japheth was the eldest son of Noah is given in this article.
_____
Note: Another stunning confirmation of the veracity of this project.
- According to the information found in Genesis 7:11-13 and Genesis 8:14-20, the flood lasted just over one full Hebrew year.
- Working with the dates in these verses, the BHCC software reveals that the duration of Noah's Flood, from the first day the waters burst forth
(Iyar 17, in 2312 BC) until the day Noah and the rest of the passengers and animals exited the ark (Iyar 27, in 2311 BC), was one full Gregorian (solar) year of 365 days - PRECISELY. God assigned the Flood a duration of one full year and the BHCC is the only source to confirm this.

"In The Beginning"
After the three high quality Biblical Timeline Anchor Points had been revealed by the Biblical Hebrew Calendar Creator (BHCC) software . . .
- Jesus' Death in 33 AD
- Jesus' Birth in 2 BC
- God's Week of Creation in 3968 BC
to say I was pleased and anxious to carry on would be putting it mildly.
Where to begin was an easy decision. You start "In The Beginning". You start with what you've always known to be in the Bible, but never had the confidence to completely believe that it could be both definitive and above all, completely accurate. You start with something you've meant to do for a long time, but could never quite "find the time"; or probably more precisely, could never quite work up the courage to face the disappointment if it should fail. You start with the plethora of dating-relevant information in the Bible, and you see where it takes you.
In the Bible there are . . .
- lists of generations from Adam onward, with exact intervals given in the number of years;
- events which are given dating-helpful descriptions; and you have
- dating information on the reigns of kings; both of Israel and of kings and kingdoms with whom they interacted.
But would this be enough? And would it confirm, at least to a sufficient degree (whatever that may be), the Bible-inspired theory that God is interacting with His universe, and with mankind in particular, within a Self-imposed 7000-year period of time?
Would I have to enlist the aid of secular history for this project? In this project, biblical statement will always have highest authority, but where this might lack clarity for the purpose at hand, would evidence from other sources be needed? 'History' was never (at all) one of my favorite school subjects, but through the years I have come to see its value; indeed its indispensability. Accurate historical information is often a prerequisite to finding the truth of a matter. Would it be helpful now?
In addition to my excitement, I will readily admit to a degree of trepidation at the prospect of real disappointment. Still, I have never been one to cower after my mind has been set. If there is anything that I can appreciate about myself it is my valuing of Truth above all; whatever the ramifications might be that a truth may bring. I believe very much that, as Jesus said, "The truth will set you free." (John 8:32)
So Let's Get To It! What was found through all of this?
To make a fairly long story really short: I found an astonishing confirmation of my belief that the Bible is the Word of God. Beginning with the Creation Date revealed by the BHCC of 3968 BC, and using the dating information from God's Word with only a little bolstering from highly accepted historical information, biblical events and their dating bring us from the Creation, through to Jesus' death at Calvary in 33 AD - Precisely! Other than in prophecy such as Revelation (which we will get into), dating in the AD era is beyond the scope of the Bible but is highly reliable within the historical record. Effectively then, we have a Timeline from Creation to the Present that is both Complete and Precise.
I didn't have to twist anything. I didn't even once have to "make it fit". And I certainly would not have done these things in any case. All I had to do was read carefully and thoughtfully, and there were occasions when I had to dig a little deeper than the surface in order to get to the information that was needed.
And oh yeah, there was one decision I had to make regarding which specific Decree to Restore and Rebuild Jerusalem is the one referred to by Daniel the Prophet. But even this was not difficult since (at least for me) the evidence is plainly much stronger for one above the others. This was also the single instance where I had to rely on the historical record to ascertain the date when that decree was proclaimed. But I will have the dating methodology laid out below the chart, for you to go through.
My suggestion is that you take all the time you need going through the chart. Go through it multiple times if you wish; as many times as is needed in order to achieve clarity. Make mental notes (or write them out) where you might have questions and then go through the Dating Methodology below the chart. Let's get started.

The Case For Millennial Coordination Is Proven
The Timing from Creation to the Cross is meticulous. Moving forward in time from the Lord's Crucifixion, into and through the Current Era, is beyond the scope of the Bible's historicity. There is also no need for it since the documentation of history in the current era is extremely well established. The case has been proven beyond reasonable doubt. Millennial Coordination has been demonstrated. The question now remaining is: "Are there in fact going to be God's Perfect-7 of them?"
With that in mind, there is one more fascinating facet to examine regarding God's 7000-Year Timeline. That of the age-ending Revelation Prophecy. Will this spectacular vision given to John the Apostle, and through him to us, also align with this pattern of Millennial Coordination? And will it ultimately confirm the Perfect-7 Millennia of God's Timeline?
I'm sure you're ready to find out about that, but just one stop before we get there. We need to go through some helpful background information first. Material that you don't necessarily have to agree with at this point, but that will aid us to see how the many puzzle pieces of Revelation can actually fit together very nicely, as long as our foundational belief system is sturdy. Did that get your curiosity up?
Let's go look at some important questions . . .
21. - Note: - Genesis 11:26: Terah lived seventy years, and fathered Abram, Nahor, and Haran.
This is another instance very similar to the listing of Noah's sons (#11 above). Fortunately, the Scriptures once again give us ample information to clear up what otherwise could be an apparent discrepancy:
- Terah's 3 sons were not triplets; they were not all born at the same time, when Terah was 70.
- Abram (later named Abraham), who was listed first, was not the firstborn, just as Shem was not Noah's firstborn.
- Stephen tells us in Acts 7:2-4 that Abraham moved out of Haran to Palestine "after his father died."
- Abraham's father,Terah, was 205 years old when he died. (Gen 11:32)
- Abraham moved from Haran when he was 75 years old. (Gen 12:4) Therefore:
- Terah was 130 years older than Abraham, and so 130 years old when he fathered Abraham.
[Back]____________________
22. - Note: - This is a specific period of 430 years stated to have occurred from God's Covenant with Abraham to the Exodus:
- Exodus 12:41: And at the end of 430 years, on this very day, all the multitudes of the Lord departed from the land of Egypt.
- Galatians 3:15 & 17: Brothers and sisters, I speak in terms of human relations: even though it is only a man's covenant, yet when it has
been ratified, no one sets it aside or adds conditions to it. ... What I am saying is this: the Law, which came 430 years later, [at the
Exodus] does not invalidate a covenant previously ratified by God, so as to nullify the promise.
This Timeline item is very significant and, although I believe the Scriptures are again very clear, there is some disagreement about its timing.
God spoke and dealt directly with Abraham concerning this Covenant, at three separate encounters:
- Encounter 1. Genesis 12:1 - 13:13 - Abraham, whose father has just died, is 75 years old and has just left the land of Haran at God's instruction. God tells Abraham that He will "bless" both him and his descendants, make them a "great nation" and give them Canaan.
Following encounter 1:
- Abraham moves his clan to Shechem, then to Bethel and then to the Negev, building altars at the first two stops. [2 to 3 years (estimate)]
- A famine occurs, so Abraham moves to Egypt long enough for Pharaoh to have an affair with his wife, Sarah. [1 year]
- Abraham then moves back to the Negev where the famine is over. [.5 year]
- Abraham and Lot decide that the land is unable to support all of their livestock, so they part ways and Lot moves to Sodom. [1 to 2 years]
- Encounter 2. Genesis 13:14 - 14:24 - We aren't given the time interval but we know Abraham is less than 85 years old. God reiterates the same blessings that He had spoken to Abraham at the 1st Encounter, with nothing new being added.
Following encounter 2:
- Abraham moves to Hebron where he builds an altar. [.5 to 1 year]
- There is a large war among nine kings, including Sodom and Gomorrah who kidnap Lot. [1 - 3 years]
- Abraham leads a group of 318 fighters against the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah and rescues Lot. [negligible]
- Abraham receives a blessing from the Priest Melchizedek. [negligible]
- Encounter 3. Genesis 15 - We again are not given the time interval but Abraham is still less than 85 years old. In addition to reiterating the promises He had already given, God now gives Abraham a highly significant new promise:
- He will give Abraham an heir; a son "from your own body shall be your heir."
Abraham takes a vital role at this third encounter:
- He believed God and it was "credited to him as righteousness."
- He asks God how he can be certain that this will actually happen.
God's response to Abraham's question:
- He makes a Covenant with Abraham: "On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram."
- He Ratifies that Covenant with multiple animal sacrifices.
- He gives Abraham additional prophecy into the future.
- He gives Abraham another new promise: A prosperous and a long life, to "be buried at a good old age."
- He gives Abraham additional heavenly spiritual signs of "a smoking oven and a flaming torch."
- He describes much more specifically the exact land which his "nation" of descendants will have.
Following encounter 3, and up until Abraham had been in Canaan 10 years and was 85 years old (Genesis 16):
- The time of Sarah's unbelief that she could become a mother in her old age; she tells Abraham to impregnate her slave, Hagar. [1 year(?)]
Which is the correct encounter?
I feel as though the obvious connections of covenant and ratification between the description given in Galatians (above) and this third
encounter at Genesis 15, should not even require me to point them out. I detailed this time period here for two reasons:
- More than a few believe the 430 year time period counting down to the Exodus, had to begin when Abraham was 75 years old, at the first encounter. There is really no compelling argument that this should be the case, and I am at a loss for further comment.
- Going through the events of this time period will help us to reasonably estimate a date for this covenant-creating third encounter.
This could not be more than 10 years, since Abraham is stated to have entered Canaan at age 75, just before the first encounter; and he is stated to have been in Canaan 10 years at some point after the third encounter.
I think it is reasonable to estimate the events from the first encounter (when Abraham is 75) to the Covenant and its Ratification (Encounter 3), to take from 6 to 10 years. But the situation with Sarah had to take some time so probably 6 to 9 years is justified. Seven years is basically in the heart of this estimate and gets my vote. This is yet another occurrence of God's "Perfect-7", which we'll see much more of when we get into the Prophecy of Revelation, where we will also run into Man's "Imperfect-6". These will be more fully dealt with at that time.
A Perfect-7 Years from God's first Promise to Abraham of a Covenant to come, to the actual Ratification of that Covenant. Makes perfect-7 sense. And fortunately we won't have to rely on an estimate because timelines can be read in both directions - into the future and into the past. As we will see, applying seven years to this period works out perfectly with what lies ahead. (see below)
Opting for this third encounter to begin the 430 years to the Exodus, tells us that Abraham was 82 years old at the beginning of this 430 years.
_____
What lies ahead? Timeline confirmation:
- the 430-Year Prophecy and the 400-Year Prophecy (see 24. - Note) both clearly end with the Exodus; so
- the 400-Year Prophecy begins 30 years after the 430-Year Prophecy; also
- the 400-Year Prophecy begins with Isaac's Covenant-confirming bar mitzvah at age 13, in the year 1847 BC; and so
- the 430-Year Prophecy is confirmed to begin in [1847 BC minus 30 years equals] 1877 BC.
_____
It may be of interest that from this general area of the scriptures we can also calculate that:
- Abraham was 86 when Ishmael was born, so Ishmael was 14 years older than Isaac.
- Abraham was 99 when Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed, in 1861 BC.
[Back]____________________
26. - Note: - Jacob's age at Joseph's birth is not given, but again we have enough information to work it out.
- Genesis 41:38-46 - Joseph was 30 years old when he became commander of Egypt.
- Genesis 41 - 44 - Seven years of Plenty + 2 years of Famine pass (making Joseph 39) when Jacob comes to Egypt.
- Genesis 47:28 - Jacob lived in the land of Egypt for 17 years, and died at 147 years of age.
- When Jacob was 147 years old, Joseph was (39 + 17 =) 56 years old, making Jacob 91 years older than Joseph.

54. - Note: - The Decree to Restore and Rebuild Jerusalem
In chapter 9 of his book, Daniel prophesies that 490 years will pass from "a decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem, until Messiah the Prince." In this general time period there were four statements concerning Jerusalem from the monarchs who ruled her, so of course there is not unanimous agreement on which decree is the right decree.
Naturally I believe the right decree is the one I present here; that of Artaxerxes I in 457 BC. In terms of defensibility, I believe it clearly rises above the others, as it is the only decree which distinctly authorizes the Hebrews to both "restore" and to "rebuild". But you can decide for yourself if you care to research the subject. There are many articles on this with most of them getting the basics correct, but not always the details in my view.
You may find it helpful to read this article, also linked under 2024 information, above: The Framework For Messianic Chronology.
This article also gives an excellent explanation: Which Decree Began Daniel's Prophecy?.
In this space, I'll just give you what for me is the clincher; the timing of the four decrees:
- 1st Decree: Cyrus in 538 BC - 490 years to the end of the prophecy at "Messiah the Prince" comes to 48 BC. X
- 2nd Decree: Darius in 520 BC - 490 years to the end of the prophecy at "Messiah the Prince" comes to 30 BC. X
- 3rd Decree: Artaxerxes I in 457 BC - 490 years to the end of the prophecy at "Messiah the Prince" comes to 33 AD. <<<
- 4th Decree: Artaxerxes I in 444 BC - 490 years to the end of the prophecy at "Messiah the Prince" comes to 46 AD. X
The 3rd Decree, Artaxerxes I in 457 BC, fits the well established timeline of Jesus to perfection. The other three don't even come close.

God's 7000 Years - Charted
24. - Note: - The 400-Year Prophecy of Israel's oppression and slavery.
- This 400 years was clearly described to end at the Exodus, which has been timelined to 1448 BC. - Gen 15:13-14 [see Ex 3:21-22, 12:35-36]
- Remembering that the biblical Hebrews counted inclusively, and that Hebrew years overlap with Gregorian years, this places the beginning of the prophecy at 1848/1847 BC.
- Isaac was the first person to be born as a Jew, circumsized on the 8th day, and covenanted as Jewish-born. - Gen 17:11-12, 19, 21; 21:4
- Having been born in 1860 BC, in 1847 BC Isaac turned 13 years old, the age of *bar mitzvah and becoming an adult under Jewish law.
- God promised Abraham that he would die peacefully, with the strong implication that he would be the last to do so. - Gen 15:15 (25:7-8)
- Abraham's son Isaac died after suffering many years of blindness and hardship. He experienced an endless agony of spirit, having been deceived by his wife and son into blessing Jacob and not the firstborn Esau. In retribution, Esau then betrayed him. Isaac's sons created a history interspersed with much turmoil. (Gen 27 - 35) As with his father Isaac, Jacob's life was similarly difficult and unhappy. - Gen 47:9
- Being the grandson of Abraham and the son of Isaac, it was Jacob, whose name was changed to Israel, who fathered the twelve heads of the twelve "tribes of Israel." And it was the complete nation of Israel, right from Israel (Jacob) onward (Gen 46:5-7), who became "strangers in a land that is not theirs [Egypt], where they [were] enslaved." - (Gen 15:13)
- The 400-Year Prophecy encompasses the unrelenting oppression which (due to their own stubborn and repeated disobedience to God), the nation of Israel, from its inception, would be forced to live under. They were to see very little relief and no victory or real affirmation from God until their divinely-directed, triumphant Exodus from the land of Egypt and from their enslavement there.
- Stephen confirms that the 400 years of this prophecy extended from the time of Abraham, emphasizing the importance of his fathering and circumcising of Isaac into the Covenant. Even though God had promised them their own nation, throughout all of these 400 years Israel possessed "no inheritance ... not even a foot of ground." Instead they were "strangers in a land that was not theirs, and enslaved." "And after that they will come out and serve Me in this place" - in the land God had promised them, as happened at the Exodus. - Acts 7:2-8
* Bar mitzvah is Hebrew for "son of commandment." The celebrant becomes a bar mitzvah; a member of the Covenant.

29. - Note: - Israel's Exodus and the 430-Year Prophecy.
Critics of the Bible see a chronological impossibility in Exodus 12:40-41, which states:
Now the time that the sons of Israel had lived in Egypt was 430 years. And at the end of 430 years, on this very day, all the
multitudes of the Lord departed from the land of Egypt.
Even a rudimentary assessment of the Bible's timeline makes it impossible for the Israelites to have been slaves in Egypt for 430 years. The solution to this supposed contradiction lies in the inexact correspondence between languages, as they are translated from one to another. Fairly often there is more than a single understanding of the intended meaning within the Bible's original language, and in this particular instance the NASB version supplies the following footnote: af. Exodus 12:40 Or of the sons of Israel who lived
With this understanding the passage is rendered:
Now the time of the sons of Israel who lived in Egypt was 430 years. And at the end of 430 years, on this very day, all the
multitudes of the Lord departed from the land of Egypt.
The time now becomes the subject of the passage, and specifically the time was 430 years. The time of the 430-Year Prophecy was at its end. This was the time when the sons of Israel were about to end their enslavement in the land of Egypt. And it was at this specific time that they were freed from their slavery and they departed the land of Egypt, just as the 430-Year Prophecy had said they would.

God's Ordained Time Elements
40-Years
It is well known that the number forty being presented in the context of units of time, is a frequently occurring theme within the Bible. A search of the Bible for forty returns well over 100 hits. Whether speaking of days, or of years, or of days representing years, some of the better-known examples of forty-unit time periods in the Bible are:
● . . . rain fell upon the earth for forty days and forty nights. - Genesis 7:12
● . . . Moses was on the mountain [of God] for forty days and forty nights.. - Exodus 24:18
● . . . they returned from spying out the land, at the end of forty days. - Number 13:25
● . . . the number of days that you spied out the land, forty days, for every day you shall suffer the punishment for your guilt a year, that is, forty years. - Numbers 14:34
● . . . the land was undisturbed for forty years in the days of Gideon. - Judges 8:28
● . . . the sons of Israel again did evil in the sight of the Lord, and the Lord handed them over to the Philistines for forty years. - Judges 13:1
● . . . Eli . . . judged Israel for forty years. - 1 Samuel 4:18
● . . . the Philistine [Goliath] came forward morning and evening, and took his stand for forty days . . . [to] defy the armies of the living God. - 1 Samuel 17:16 & 26
● . . . David became king . . . and he reigned for forty years. 2 Samuel 5:4
● . . . Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel [for] forty years. - 1 Kings 11:42
● . . . [Elijah] arose and ate and drank, and he journeyed in the strength of that food for forty days and forty nights to Horeb, the mountain of God. - 1 Kings 19:8
● . . . Jehoash became king, and he reigned for forty years in Jerusalem. - 2 Kings 12:1
● . . . Joash . . . became king, and he reigned for forty years in Jerusalem. - 2 Chronicles 24:1
● . . . Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil [and] He fasted for forty days and forty nights. - Matt 4:1-2
● . . . [Jesus] also presented Himself alive after His suffering . . . appearing . . .over a period of forty days and speaking of things regarding the kingdom of God. - Acts 1:3
Being aware of this established timing-pattern of forty within the Bible, and while considering God's Timeline as now revealed, I couldn't help but notice the number of time-spans given within the Timeline, which are multiples of forty. These include:
● 400 Years (10 x 40) from Isaac becoming a "son of the Covenant" at his bar mitzvah, to the Exodus of Israel out of Egypt.
● 120 Years (3 x 40) that made up the life of Moses, God's greatest servant, whose Song of Praise to God will be sung together with Jesus'. - Revelation 15:3.
● Moses' First 40-Years ends when he killed an Egyptian and fled Egypt for Midian: ". . . when [Moses] was full forty years old." - Acts 7:23-28 (KJV)
● Moses' Second 40-Years ends at the Exodus: ". . . Moses was eighty years old when [he] spoke to Pharaoh." - Exodus 7:7
● Moses' Third 40-Years ends as Israel is about to enter the Promised Land: ". . . Moses was 120 years old when he died." - Deuteronomy 34:7
● 40 Years of Israel's wilderness ordeal.
● 480 Years (12 x 40) from the Exodus, to the beginning of construction of Solomon's Temple.
● 1000 Years (25 x 40) from Solomon's Temple, to the fulfillment of First Advent Messiah's mission.
In the above Chart of God's Seven Millennia, horizontally, each pixel represents one year. The detail-oriented may notice that fully representing the seven millennia in this manner has actually required 7001 pixels. This is because from the starting point - the year of creation in 3968 BC - the beginning of each subsequent millennium requires 1000 additional years, and so 1000 additional pixels. Each 25 x 40-Years exactly covers 1000 years and we have positioned them to end precisely at each new millennium, as it appears God intended.
It is also possible that God never intended the 40-Year time elements to cover His entire 7000 years. They only explicitly begin when the first Jewish-born person in history, Abraham's son Isaac became a "son of the Covenant" at his bar mitzvah in 1847 BC. Their relevancy is also far from clear after Israel's complete rejection of First Advent Messiah, at His crucifixion in 33 AD. This could well be indication that the 40-Year time elements are relevant only to Israel, and only until the nation fully rejected their God.
Alignments of the 40-Year Time Elements
● The 400 Years begin precisely when Isaac becomes a "son of the Covenant" at his bar mitzvah, and end precisely at Israel's Exodus out of Egypt.
● The last 2 x 40-Years of the 400, plus a third 40-Years, precisely delineate the three phases of Moses' life: Egyptian Prince, Midian Servant, and Hebrew Deliverer of Israel.
● They also align flawlessly with Israel's Exodus from Egypt, as well as their entry into the Promised Land.
● The 480 Years begin with the Exodus, and end at the beginning of construction of Solomon's Temple, precisely at the Millennium.
● The 1000 Years carry on from Solomon's Temple, and end at the crucifixion of our Lord, again precisely at the Millennium.
In all, these 47 x 40-Years form one continuous and unbroken timeline of 1880 years, revealing many more of God's inconceivable alignments. This is clearly well beyond chance, and it yet again raises the level of impossibility that anyone but God could have created this Timeline.
Jubilee
The timing aspect of God's Jubilee is largely misunderstood. Other timelines are notable for the special events they contain - the events determine the timeline. Jubilee is a timeline which appears to create the pattern for the events which it spans - Jubilee dictates its own events.
The Jubilee of God is a Spiritual State of Being, and Israel could only experience Jubilee when certain conditions were met. When those conditions were absent, Jubilee was absent. God described Jubilee to Moses on the holy mountain:
Leviticus 25:1 The Lord then spoke to Moses on Mount Sinai, saying, 2 "Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, 'When you come into the land which I am going to give you, then the land shall have a Sabbath to the Lord. [the first seven-year Sabbath for the land - vs3-4; beginning the first Jubilee - vs8-10]
- Jubilee will begin when Israel comes into the Promised Land which God is going to give them. Clearly stated. End of story.
3 For six years you shall sow your field, and for six years you shall prune your vineyard and gather in its produce, 4 but during the seventh year the land shall have a Sabbath rest, a Sabbath to the Lord; you shall not sow your field nor prune your vineyard.
- Jubilee will begin with 6 years of working the land, followed by a 7th year of Sabbath rest for the land.
. . .
8 'You are also to count off seven Sabbaths of years for yourself, seven times seven years, so that you have the time of the seven Sabbaths of years, that is, forty-nine years.
- This 7-year Sabbath cycle is repeated 7 times, with a Jubilee Celebration every 7th Sabbath year - every 49 years. This again is not unclear in any way.
9 You shall then sound a ram's horn abroad on the tenth day of the seventh month; on the Day of Atonement you shall sound a horn all through your land.
10 So you shall consecrate the fiftieth year and proclaim a release throughout the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you, and each of you shall return to his own property, and each of you shall return to his family. 11 You shall have the fiftieth year as a jubilee; you shall not sow, nor harvest its aftergrowth, nor gather grapes from its untrimmed vines. 12 For it is a jubilee; it shall be holy to you. You shall eat its produce from the field.
- Because the ancient Hebrews were at most times, derelict in their fidelity to God's Covenant with its observances, there is little historical detail about their observance of Jubilee. Disagreement on the correct length of a Jubilee cycle has been going on forever, as it were, with some favoring 49 years and others favoring 50 years. Researching what the Bible has to say is always the best practice, and it is what I have consistently done throughout this study. On that note . . .
- If a Jubilee celebration occurs every 49 years, how can there be a 50th year? The mention of a fiftieth year in this passage is simply another example of the Hebrews' ante-dating method of counting, of which there are many examples in the Bible. This method counts the units of time (days or years) between two events while including both the initial and the terminal units. The best biblical example comparing to Jubilee is that of the Feast of Weeks, or Pentecost:
● "Pentecost . . . takes place on the 49th day (50th day when inclusive counting is used) after Easter Day."
● "Pente-" is a prefix for the number five, and Pentecost literally alludes to the 50-day inclusive count from Resurrection Sunday to Pentecost Sunday.
● 49 actual days pass between the celebration of the First Fruits (or Resurrection) Sunday, and the celebration of the Feast of Weeks (or Pentecost) Sunday. And yet . . .
● In God's sight the two celebrations are 50 days apart, and His instruction is to inclusively "count 50 days" from one to the next. - Lev 23:16
- The only time-related difference with Jubilee, explained just two chapters later in Leviticus, is that it is counted in Sabbaths of years instead of Sabbaths of days:
● 49 actual years pass between the celebration of any given Jubilee and the celebration of the next Jubilee. And yet . . .
● In God's sight the two celebrations are 50 years apart, and His instruction is to inclusively count to "the fiftieth year" from one to the next. - Lev 25:10
. . .
20 But if you say, "What are we going to eat in the seventh year if we do not sow nor gather in our produce?" 21 then I will so order My blessing for you in the sixth year that it will bring forth the produce for three years.
- Once again, this is inclusive counting:
● Obviously, each year's harvest normally covers one year of the nation's sustenance. But . . .
● Because each individual year of sustenance extends through two years - from harvest time to harvest time - Israel's inclusive count is two years.
● That the 6th year provides produce for three years, in fact adds one extra year of sustenance - covering the non-production of the 7th year; the Sabbath year.
22 When you are sowing the eighth year, you can still eat old things from the [6th-yr] produce, eating the old until [spring of] the ninth year when its [8th-yr] produce comes in.
- The produce which results from sowing the eighth year, as always, covers the nation's sustenance from 8th-year harvest time to 9th-year harvest time.
● If verse 22 is correctly applied to all seven of the 7-year Sabbath-cycles (49 years), it cannot be indicating an extra 2 years of 6th-year sustenance because . . .
● A second year of 6th-year sustenance can only be required if an extra Sabbath year has been added - which cannot be the case during the first six cycles.
● If verse 22 is incorrectly applied to only the seventh of the 7-year cycles in an attempt to see two added years of 6th-year sustenance (to supply a supposed 50th year) . . .
● Verse 22 itself disallows this when it specifies that the 8th year (the 1st year after the 7-year cycle) is to be a year of sowing.
- Problems arise when an extra, 50th year is added to the Jubilee timeline:
● Adding a 50th year after the 49th, causes two consecutive Sabbath years of rest. And yet . . .
● The year after each Seventh-Year Sabbath (called "the eighth year" for clarity) is always a year of sowing (Lev 25:22).
● Just as the 50-Day count to the Feast of Weeks counts off Seven Sabbath Days (Lev 23:15); the 50-Year count to Jubilee counts off Seven Sabbath Years (Lev 25:8).
● Just as the Sabbath Day is fixed relative to the Creation (Gen 2:3; Ex 20:8); the Sabbath Year is fixed relative to Israel's possession of the Promised Land (Lev 25).
● Just as adding a 50th day would cause God's Sabbath Day to be repositioned in time; adding a 50th year would cause God's Sabbath Year to be repositioned in time.
● Just as God would never allow His Holy (Ex 20:11) Sabbath Day to be repositioned; God would never allow His Holy (Lev 25:12) Sabbath Year to be repositioned.
The Requirements For The Spiritual State Of Jubilee To Be In Effect
For Israel to be in a spiritual state of Jubilee requires that Israel maintain a certain active relationship between themselves and God. For this to occur:
● Israel must be in occupation of Canaan, the land promised to them by God.
● As God stated, Jubilee would begin "When you come into the land which I am going to give you." - Lev 25:2 (see more of the chapter above)
● Israel must have constructed and be maintaining a House of God. God must have a place to dwell among the people. - Ex 25:8; Ex 40
● At first this was the portable Tabernacle, and later it was the Temple.
The Requirements For Jubilee Were First Met Under Joshua
The two conditions for Jubilee were first met when the Israelites under Joshua, upon completion of their 40 years wandering in the wilderness, brought their portable Tabernacle with them and crossed the Jordan River, entering their Promised Land:
"Moses My servant is dead; so now arise, cross this Jordan, you [Joshua] and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them, to the sons of Israel.
Every place on which the sole of your foot steps, I have given it to you, just as I spoke to Moses." - Josh 1:2-3 (see Joshua chapters 1 - 4; 22:19)
The Celebration of Jubilee
Stating more consisely what we have learned thus far, the liturgy, or pattern which Israel was to follow during Jubilee is:
● Fieldwork is done and the fields are sown for six years.
● The seventh year is a Sabbath Year, when the fields are not sown and the land rests.
● There are seven such cycles of seven years, referred to as septennates, with each seventh year being a Holy Sabbath Year.
● These septennates commemorate, and are fixed in time relative to, Israel coming into the spiritual state of Jubilee.
● The seventh septennate's Sabbath Year - the 49th year - takes on special significance with special regulations. This is the Jubilee Year.
● This greater 49-year cycle is the Jubilee cycle - God's Jubilee Time Element.
● Jubilee is in effect, and a Jubilee Year is to be celebrated every 49 years, only while the two requirements for Jubilee are being fulfilled, namely:
● Israel is occupying their Promised Land which God gave to them; and
● There is a present and functioning House of God - a Tabernacle or Temple - among the people.
The Beginnings and Endings of Jubilee
● Israel's first Spiritual Jubilee began in 1408 BC under Joshua, when the nation, transporting their Tabernacle, entered their Promised Land to possess it.
● If the requirements for Jubilee are not being fulfilled, Israel's spiritual state of Jubilee no longer exists and the Jubilee celebration comes to an end.
● This happened in 587 BC when Nebuchadnezzar razed Jerusalem and God's Temple, and enslaved the Hebrew people into Babylonian exile.
● If the requirements for Jubilee are once again being fulfilled, Israel's spiritual state of Jubilee is reestablished and the Jubilee cycle and celebrations begin anew.
● This happened in 457 BC after the Temple had been rebuilt, and Israel as a nation was permitted to, and began to return to their Promised Land. - Ezra 7; esp vs7,13
● This second Spiritual Jubilee ended similarly to the first, when Titus razed Jerusalem and destroyed God's Temple in 70 AD.
● Even though Israel once again occupies the Promised Land, God's Temple has never been rebuilt and Israel has not enjoyed Spiritual Jubilee since 70 AD.
Alignments of the 40-Years and the Jubilees
As the chart details, Israel's Spiritual Jubilee has run two separate courses, the first beginning in 1408 BC under Joshua and ending with Nebuchadnezzar's conquest in 587 BC:
● The 1408 BC start of the first Jubilee Cycle aligns perfectly with the post-dating count of the previously initiated 40-Year Time Element:
● The odds of this happening in any randomly chosen year are 1 in 40.
● The 1408 BC start of this first Jubilee Cycle begins the ante-dating count of the 49-Year Jubilee Time Element.
● From 1408 BC, eleven x 40-Years ends in 968 BC, precisely at the start of the Fourth Millennium and precisely at the start of construction of Solomon's Temple.
● From 1408 BC, nine x 49-Year Jubilees ends in 968 BC, precisely at the start of the Fourth Millennium and precisely at the start of construction of Solomon's Temple.
● The odds that both of these time elements would converge with this precision in a randomly chosen year, is (1 in 40) x (1 in 49) = 1 in 1960.
Israel's second Spiritual Jubilee began in 457 BC under Ezra and ended with Titus' destruction of the Temple in 70 AD:
● The 40-Year Time Elements carry on through the timeline without interruption. Each 25 of these marks a New Millennium.
● From 968 BC, twenty-five x 40-Years ends in 33 AD (there is no year "zero"), precisely at the start of the Fifth Millennium and precisely at Messiah's Crucifixion.
● The 457 BC start of the second Jubilee Cycle begins anew the ante-dating count of the 49-Year Jubilee Time Element.
● From 457 BC, ten x 49-Year Jubilees (490 years - Daniel's 70 Weeks of Years) ends in 33 AD, precisely at the Fifth Millennium and precisely at Messiah's Crucifixion.
● The odds that both of these time elements would converge with this precision in a randomly chosen year, is again 1 in 1960.
● The odds that all four of these time elements would precisely converge in two randomly chosen years is (1 in 1960) x (1 in 1960) = 1 in 3,841,600.
● The years in which these convergences occurred are both extremely special years which host unique events of ultimate importance, and they are anything but random.
The Significance of These Alignments
Prior to the work done here, I calculated the odds of random alignment of only a few of the calendar's more significant dates and events, to be 1 in 365,000,000,000.
● When we now include this new (2024) information the odds become (1 in 3,841,600) x (1 in 365,000,000,000) = 1 in 1,402,184,000,000,000,000.
● This is grammatically stated as approximately 1 chance in 1.4 quintillion that these alignments could have occurred randomly.
● If this were a lottery, every person on earth would need to buy nearly 200,000,000 tickets for there to be equal odds of finding a winner.
● I submit that it is illogical and far beyond reason to understand the significance of these alignments apart from invoking the hand of God.
The Deeper Revelation of These Alignments
"Seventy weeks have been decreed for your people and your holy city, to finish the wrongdoing."
● This prophecy was given to Daniel (Daniel 9:24-26a). It speaks of Daniel's people - Israel; and Daniel's holy city - Jerusalem.
● Seventy weeks are 70 weeks of years or septennates, equalling 490 years, which delineates exactly ten 49-Year Jubilee Cycles.
● Daniel's prophecy is unmistakably speaking of a time period of 10 Jubilees, from beginning to end.
● The integrity of a Jubilee Cycle simply cannot be violated, as modern exegetes do when they cut off and relocate the last septennate, 2000 years into the future.
● Any exegesis of these 490 years which requires such an abuse of data and information can only be viewed with incredulity.
● The fact that this 70-week time period is a set of Jubilee cycles, is incontrovertible affirmation that these 490 years are an uninterrupted period of time:
● Daniel surely tells us that 483 years (69 septennates) extend from "a decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem, until Messiah the Prince" is revealed. Just as surely . . .
● The last 7 years (the 70th septennate) of his prophecy extend from the time Messiah is first revealed, until He completes His mission at His death and resurrection.
For those who appreciate scholarly research, the article at the link below, contains many fine insights into the intricate and interdependent relationship between Jubilee Cycles and Daniel's 490-Year Prophecy. It is also a good example of the contradiction created, when an otherwise well-researched author bows to a prevailing ideology within the Church which has attained the level of theological dogma. Because, in spite of his clear understanding of the nature and significance of Jubilee and the Jubilee Cycle, the author fails to comment on anything past the 69th septennate - the first 483 years of Daniel's Prophecy. Perhaps I am being overly critical. I hope so. In any case, please bear all of this in mind as you read the article: The Framework For Messianic Chronology.
